Privacy Policy

We collect as little data as possible. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Last updated: June 2025

Short version: CJP does not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not require registration to use any core feature of the platform. The only personal data we store is your email address if you voluntarily subscribe to updates — and you can delete it any time.

1. Who We Are

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) operates the website at cjpindia.xyz as a civic engagement and public interest information platform. This Privacy Policy explains how CJP collects, uses, stores and protects information about users who visit and interact with our website.

CJP is committed to privacy by design. We believe that citizens engaging with governance accountability information should not have to trade their personal data to do so. We have built our platform with this principle as a core design requirement, not an afterthought.

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Data Collected Automatically

Like most websites, our hosting and content delivery infrastructure automatically collects certain technical information when you visit our website. This includes:

This technical data is used solely for security monitoring, understanding general traffic patterns and improving platform performance. It is not linked to personally identifiable information and is not used for advertising or marketing purposes.

2.2 Data You Submit Voluntarily

State ratings: When you use the Rate Your State feature, you submit star ratings for your state across up to five categories. These ratings are entirely anonymous. We do not collect your name, email address, IP address or any other identifying information in connection with your rating submission. Ratings are stored as anonymous numerical data and aggregated for display purposes only.

Newsletter subscription: If you choose to subscribe to CJP updates by providing your email address, we store that email address for the purpose of sending you updates. We do not collect any other personal information in connection with newsletter subscriptions. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email we send.

Contact form messages: If you contact us through our contact page, we receive and store the content of your message and any contact information you choose to include. We use this information only to respond to your enquiry and do not retain it for longer than necessary.

3. How We Use Your Data

CJP uses the data it collects for the following specific purposes only:

We do not use your data to create personal profiles, display targeted advertising, conduct behavioural tracking, sell or rent data to third parties, or share data with political organisations or government bodies.

4. Data Storage and Security

Citizen rating data is stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database service with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. Email subscriber data is stored with equivalent security measures. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

No internet transmission or electronic storage method is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting personal data, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

5. Data Retention

Anonymous citizen rating data is retained indefinitely as it forms the cumulative record of citizen participation in CJP's governance accountability platform. Because this data is fully anonymous and contains no personally identifying information, there is no personal data deletion obligation associated with it.

Email subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form message data is retained only as long as necessary to address the relevant enquiry, typically no longer than 12 months.

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding any personal data CJP holds about you:

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our contact page. We will respond to all valid requests within 30 days.

7. Cookies

CJP uses minimal cookies necessary for basic website functionality. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies that follow your behaviour across other websites. Any cookies used by CJP are strictly necessary for the operation of our platform features and expire at the end of your browser session or within a short period thereafter.

8. Third-Party Services

CJP uses the following third-party services in the operation of our platform:

CJP does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other behavioural tracking or advertising technology.

9. Children's Privacy

CJP is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to CJP, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate significant changes by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of CJP after changes are posted indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
